Associate Network Engineer Jobs - Culpeper, VA - We are currently seeking an entry-level Network Engineer / technical support professional to join a great team in our . The ideal candidate should possess good understanding of the general IT environment. Be knowledgeable of IP networking in general- Cisco networking experience is highly desired. Knowledge of Network Security technologies (Fortinet, Checkpoint), Juniper/Netscreen VPN technologies and Big IP(F5) are a big plus. Knowledge of UNIX and the ability to develop shell scripts/minor programming is also desired.
The responsibilities will include:
- Plan, perform installations/configuration changes upgrading and testing of telecommunication infrastructure and related equipment.
- LAN and WAN support, troubleshooting, monitoring and control in a high availability operations environment.
- Identify problems and participate in problem management resolution by collecting and tracking data and progress.
- May resolve issues regarding on line transactions, system status and procedures, downtime procedures in accordance with the service level agreement.
- Interact on all issues with network services, software systems engineering and /or applications development, in order to restore availability of services and/or identify problems.
- Identify and propose network- or system modifications in order to reduce user problems on systems, databases, applications, or a combination thereof.
- May update existing training packages for internal use and problem management procedures for existing products/services.
- May provide technical support to the other divisions by delivering product demos.
- Participate in the review of problem situations and identification of opportunities for improvement to processes, procedures or tools.
- Acquire technical and product knowledge to resolve problems
- Maintain contacts with Customer Support Organization to report and follow up our customers problems.
- Maintain in general reporting and fault ticket systems
- BS degree in Computer Information Systems/Networks or related field
- Able to work rotating shift work in 24/7 data center
- 1-3 years of experience in data communications
- Experience with Network Management system; ticketing systems and Provisioning engines is a plus
- CCNA, CCNP or F5 certifications is also a plus
