Network Systems Engineer/Sr. Systems Engineer, IT - Lakeland  - Systems Engineering involves defining, developing, maintaining and advising on the effective use of the Publix information technology architecture. The Network Engineering team is responsible for LAN/WAN Networks, Datacenter networking support, Firewalls, Load Balancers, Wireless, and Quality of Service. Some examples of systems engineering tasks include: 
  • Cisco WAN/LAN networking hardware and IOS installation, configuration, integration and support including Nexus 7000, Catalyst 6509, 3750, 2900 series, and ACE load balancers
  • system and network management activities
  • problem-determination and resolution
  • project team participation, and
  • new technology awareness, research and system integration

Required Qualifications 
  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent
  • minimum of five years systems engineering experience with Cisco networks in a large corporate environment
  • minimum of three years systems engineering experience implementing and supporting Cisco networks
  • Datacenter networking support and troubleshooting
  • experience supporting a wide variety of networking components including Cisco Routers, Switches, Wireless Access Points, MPLS, Frame-Relay, ATM, ISDN, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF and RIPv2
  • experience supporting firewall systems like Checkpoint FW1 and Provider-1
  • excellent communication and team skills
  • flexible and able to handle stressful situations in a professional manner
  • demonstrate ability to work under minimal supervision
  • high degree of self-motivation, commitment and integrity
  • ability to design, implement and support complex wide area networks
  • experience with both wired and wireless networks
  • experience with network management products
  • excellent understanding of network security
  • networking certifications
  • good human relation skills (the ability to work well with others and to be a team member)
  • show enthusiasm, initiative and pride in work, and a

Preferred Qualifications 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or an analytical discipline or equivalent experience
  • CCIE written/CCNP/CCDP/CCNA Certifications
  • IPS, ACE Load Balancers, Checkpoint Firewall, Secure Computing Web Washer, CA Spectrum and eHealth, HP Network Automation, CiscoSecure Access Control Server, Wireshark, and NetScout Performance Manager
